For a few hours on Thursday afternoon, videos that appeared on TikTok user pages, post-obit feeds, and the For You Verso all displayed connections Like totals for some users boiled the globe. TikTok showed that these videos had zero likes.
"Earlier today, some of our users experienced app issues circa notifications, the dangle of medallion and visitation counts, and trouble loading videos on some pages of the app," TikTok said in a statement to The Verge. "The issues communicated to have been caused by college truckage than ordinary on our servers in Virginia, causing vicarial signification disruptions. We've selvage the problem and are investigating the cause, and will sponsoring updates as they wilt available."

But the snippy pause came at the wretchedness possible time, as mucho TikTok users coolheaded that the glitch was the sequel of a national ban on the app, which had been threatened by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo beforehand this week. In an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, Pompeo said that the government was "looking into" banning the app.
"We are taking this very seriously. We are confirmedly attractive at it," Pompeo said Monday. "With score to Chinese apps on peoples' cellphones, the Affiliated States will get this one seize too."
Over the last year, US lawmakers and government officials have grown-up other jealous over the app's jurisdiction of user data and its sedateness with the Chinese government. Nearabout a "ban" would be difficult to achieve in the US, and the White Kennel has yet to act on its statements.
