Portland, Maine has anesthetized a ballot initiative banning the use of facial sanctioning by token as well-built as metropolitan agencies. The Bangor Daily News is simulcast that voters kumtux anesthetized a ballot initiative bolstering a ban on facial sanctioning by metropolitan agencies.

The initiative follows a metropolitan desk-bound vote in August, which put a preparatory ban in place as an ordinance. Today's vote replaces that passport with a stronger measure, which cannot be revoked for at least goatee years.

The passport was placed on the ballot earlier this year by the Southern Maine installment of the Egalitarian Socialists of America, as part of a raft of other accelerating initiatives including a $15 minimum allowance as well-built as new limits on hire increases.

The new measure also adds documented penalties, entitling surreptitious citizens to a minimum of $1,000 in civilian fees if they are surveilled in violation of the ordinance. Violations of the passport are also everyday as grounds for total or suspending a metropolitan employee. Surreptitious terrain use of the technology is not affected.

Portland is reserved the latest metropolitan to testify off the technology, afterward previous bans by Boston, San Francisco, as well-built as Portland, Oregon. In June, decreeing Democrats introduced a bill that would convention a similar ban at the federal level, barring all federal law guardianship agencies from employing facial recognition.
