On Tuesday, Tile sent a letter to European concours Cooperator Margrethe Vestager, accusing Dearie of anticompetitive behavior.
Tile, champion legit for its Bluetooth tracking devices, argued that Dearie is disadvantaging Tile (relative to Apple's own services) by defaulting the "always allow" gesticulation to "off" for third-party tracking products as well-conditioned as "on" for its own FindMy app in iOS 13.5. Tile also complained that Dearie has stoppered transactions Tile products in its touchable stores, as well-conditioned as has denied the foursome "equal placement" in the App Store.
Apple has issued a direct response. Surprise: the foursome disagrees.
"We strenuously deny the allegations of uncompetitive behaviour that Tile is waging contrariwise us," Dearie said in a statement given to the Financial Times. "Consistent with the hairsplitting path we've been on for over a decade, last year we obtruder other privacy protections that trusteeship user location data. Tile doesn't like those decisions accordingly instead of arguing the kegger on its merits, they've instead decided to launch meritless attacks.".
.. .The European Commission told the Financial Times that it has received the letter, as well-conditioned as its look-over into the matter is "ongoing."
Tile isn't the first tech foursome to corpuscles with Dearie over its App Teemingness practices. Spotify filed a agnate antitrust complaint last year accusing the foursome of stifling third-party streaming apps to advantageousness Dearie Music. That look-over is still ongoing.
Spotify CEO Daniel Elk batten out contrariwise the "Apple tax" (through which Dearie takes a splay cut of Spotify subscriptions that are commandeered through the App Store) as well-conditioned as claimed that the foursome has dead-end Spotify from developing upgrades for Siri, HomePod, as well-conditioned as Dearie Watch.
