Colloquium on Guinean Transition in Paris The Road is Still Too Long

val-d'oise senator

The symposium "on the transition" in Guinea, scheduled for March 18 in Paris, has been the focus of the local press ever since it was first announced last Wednesday by the Africa Intelligence website. Despite this, there are still a few unanswered questions. This is demonstrated by the various stories that are related about the matter depending on the interlocutors or even depending on the correspondence the parties involved exchange.

Remind yourself that this is a symposium that the Franco-Guinean Ismal Bah, president of an NGO active in France and Guinea, organized. It will be held at the French Senate's main office with the expected participation of the Guinean living forces. and a few French representatives.

An occasion that received the highest level of support from the transitional authorities as well as from a number of prominent French political figures. Prior to initiating, this was a significant asset, but obviously not enough to rub the initiator's hands together.

In any case, there is no enthusiasm for the project in the political environment of Guinea. especially at the level of the three largest political organizations in the nation: the RPG AEC, the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), and the Union of Republican Forces (UFR).

One of the officials, for instance, claims that they are unaware of this symposium on the side of the latter. The official of the former ruling party who was quoted as saying, "We do not think of participating in it since we are not invited for the time being," answered.

Between mistrust, reluctance, and rejection.. In a similar vein, one of our sources told Guineanews about the Ufdg and the UFR that "..the leaders are not going to participate.". It is certain while mentioning that with regards to Sidya Touré.

I fail to understand why Cellou Dalein Diallo would take part. "Then to add:". On the government's side, a different source responded, "There is no clear answer.

"Even though your electronic daily is now aware that the Minister of Foreign Affairs has a significant amount of work to do on the project with regard to Conakry. At least, that is what Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté claimed in a letter she sent to the initiator in October last year, "on instructions" from the president of the transition.

The organizer of the colloquium that Guinéenews joined does not like this attitude and makes it known in regards to the reservations and other reluctance, not to mention rejection, on the part of the major political parties. Ismael Bah responds in an unfriendly manner, saying, "If the leaders are absent, they are the ones who will roll out the red carpet for the others.".

Additionally, I would like to add that although they were invited, neither the CNRD nor the others should use this as a platform for them. "An independent stance that categorically rejects the claims that Ismael Bah is the junta's legal representative before the French government.

While the president of "Guinée Codéveloppement" wants to cast aside his political identity, which is frequently brought up in remarks about the man, he wants to present himself as an actor of civil society. However, the latter believes that Guineans will be blessed with "blessed bread" because of the French Senate's agreement in principle to host his colloquium. He bases this on the idea that "everyone must take their responsibilities" in Guinea.

Particularly considering that "we have a country in common," he claims. expressing his displeasure with the ego issues that Guinean political leaders are known for and which he is willing to put aside for the sake of a political class renewal.

Even though he also publicly expresses his desire to see the military transition come to an end as soon as possible, which serves as a defense. "Me, if the CNRD leaves, it's acquired," declares the person who freely admits that he is fighting to ensure that there is a new generation in charge of this nation.

The main political leaders' mistrust of Ismael Bah can be adequately explained by the statement, "When everything divides until the theme A position.". Particularly considering that in addition to the fight against corruption, those connected to the junta that rules Guinea frequently promote generational change in the country's political system.

Not only that, but the person who came up with the idea for the Paris colloquium isn't entirely in favor of the military might either, in addition to the other accusations and defenses that his critics have made against him. Mr. Bah's interlocutors claim that is the case, at least if we are to judge by the blatant contradiction on the subject.

According to a letter that Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté wrote in response to a letter that Colonel Doumbouya received from Ismael Bah, "the president takes note of your colloquium project," according to Colonel Doumbouya's instructions. Guineanews obtained a copy of this letter. giving specifics about the theme, which is "the transition and the fight against corruption in Guinea.

While the subject matter is more specifically "the conditions for the success of the institutional transition in Guinea" for the president of "Guinée Cdéveloppement". Additionally, this is how the project was pitched to French officials, such as the val-d'oise senator and vice president of the senate, who were chosen to sponsor the event.

Alain Richard's letter to the initiative's bearer, in which he mentioned: "the presence of representative stakeholders, in the forefront of which Mr. DoT Prime Minister Bernard Goumou, serves as evidence," bears this out. Without first establishing the colloquium as a framework that "allow better identify the institutional choices and the socio-economic challenges that arise for Guinea during this transition.

However, Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with Guineanews, suggests a different narrative. Even if he affirms that "it is not the Guinean government which organizes" and that Isma'il Bah is the one who took the initiative.

All of what we had learned from the initiator and his adamant critics—who are not uncommon—was the only point of convergence. The current director of Guinean diplomacy says that the first difference to take note of in this phone interview is "that there will be no government delegation there.".

Additionally, to continue the theme, "it is what is in my letter that is official," was said. "If someone wants to organize a symposium to explain how we fight against corruption, we (the government agrees, editor's note)," the speaker said before adding.

Furthermore, he emphasizes that "there is no question of relations between Guinea and France, which are dealt with in Conakry and Paris through diplomacy. Given the current geopolitical environment, in which relations between the former French colonies and Paris are tested and managed with great discretion whenever they are not denounced and rejected, this precision is worth its weight in gold to both nations.

Even though it doesn't change the fact that there is still a long way to go, it is still important that all parties involved participate in this symposium.

especially at the level of the three largest political organizations in the nation: the RPG AEC, the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), and the Union of Republican Forces (UFR).
